Combat boots are one of my favorite shoe styles, but I’ve found that they’re difficult to pull off if you aren’t careful: pair them with too much black or too many grungey items and you run the risk of looking like Avril Lavigne circa 2003. In my experience, the balance between the grunge combat boots and the rest of the outfit has to be just right. I’ve had my eye on a pair of Doc Martens since last fall and the street style from this season has only refreshed my lust for these emo chic boots.
Pair them with track pants
Combat boots looked amazing paired with track-style sweatpants on those seen wearing the look during fashion week. It’s like comfy new wave grunge. Cherry red Docs pair well with a leopard print bucket bag and gray separates.
Pair them with a statement jacket and paired-back skinny jeans
I love the idea of making a ladylike tweed jacket more interesting by pairing it with heavy leather combat boots and distressed skinny jeans. I recently impulse purchased an amazing black checked jacket from Zara and I need to find somewhere cold (aka not Miami) to wear it ASAP before spring turns into summer.
